How the placement check works

When you start learning on myedu.lk, you can take a short placement check. It helps you choose a starting course, so that lessons are neither too easy nor too hard. Here is what to expect.
It is optional
You can skip the placement check and choose any course yourself. Nothing is locked because of your result.
What it checks
The questions cover:
- grammar — how sentences are built
- vocabulary — everyday words and phrases
- reading — understanding short texts
The questions start easy and become harder. There are no speaking or writing tasks, so the check does not measure those skills.
How long it takes
Plan for about 25 minutes. There is no time limit, so you can read each question carefully.
Tips for a useful result
- Take it when you have a quiet moment.
- Do not use a dictionary or a translator — the aim is to find the right starting point for you.
- If a question feels difficult, do not worry. The questions get harder on purpose.
Your result
At the end you see a suggested level and a starting course, with a short explanation — for example, a suggestion to begin a beginner course from its first unit.
The result is guidance, not a grade or a certificate. If the suggested course feels too easy or too hard after a few lessons, simply choose another one.
