This policy explains what personal data myedu.lk collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who we are

What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash, so nobody at myedu.lk can read them.
- Learning data: the courses you enrol in, the lessons you complete, your answers and scores, placement results, XP, streaks, badges and certificates.
- Preferences: your learning goal, daily target, timezone, languages and notification choices.
- Purchases: what you bought, the price and the payment status. Card details are handled by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
- Messages: what you send us through the contact form or by email.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, and security logs, used to keep accounts safe.
Why we use it
- to run your account and provide lessons, progress tracking and certificates;
- to send messages you need, such as email verification, password resets and receipts, and reminders you have chosen to receive;
- to answer your questions and help with problems;
- to keep the service secure and prevent misuse;
- to understand, in aggregate, where learners get stuck, so that we can improve our courses.
Who can see it
Our staff can see personal data only when their role requires it — for example, a support agent helping with your account. We use service providers for hosting, email delivery and payments, who process data on our behalf and under our instructions. We do not sell your personal data.
Certificates
When you receive a certificate, anyone who has its verification code can confirm that it is genuine. The verification page shows only the minimum information needed to do that.
How long we keep data
We keep your data while your account is open, and for [retention period to be confirmed] afterwards where the law requires it, for example for payment records.
Your choices and rights
From your profile you can update your details, change your notification preferences, download a copy of your data and ask us to delete your account. You can also contact us about any privacy question.
Children
